Friday night’s Varsity basketball match against the Owings Mills Eagles was another example of how great the Rams can be when they work together. Because of a slow start, the Eagles were leading at the end of the first quarter with a score of 13-17. In the huddle, Coach English stressed teamwork and poise to the players- the squad definitely delivered. By halftime, Randallstown was leading 32-27 with multiple players contributing to the turn-around. Going into the second half, the Rams carried the same explosiveness.
Although the Rams were definitely getting the job done offensively, the drive of the Eagles made them very tough to defend; with about 4 minutes left in the third quarter, Owings Mills made a strong run that brought the score to a tight 49-46 total. The start of the fourth quarter followed a completely different trend- the Rams pounced on the Eagles from the start of the quarter, to the end of the match. The all-out domination was led by Chaz “Cheesy” Sharpe who scored two three-pointers to open up the fourth quarter- he went on to score the first 8 points of the half. Jeremy Smith also blazed the court with 11 crucial points. When it was all said and done, Chaz dropped 37 points to lead his team to a 73-66 victory.
